It is essential to take a look at this page above all others as it outlines many of our teaching and learning strategies, systems and principles that you will see in use for our children at Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. We suggest downloading and reading the very practical Teaching & Learning Policy and/or downloading at the summary posters we have made for both key stages. We have posted copies below for you to look at and have copies available for you upon your visit to school. We have not felt the need to produce such a document for the Early Years as the philosophy outlined here is consistent with good practice in this key stage across many settings. It is far more specific to KS1 and KS2.
We have spent extensive time training every member of our team in these strategies. We have modelled and trialled methods. Demonstrated lessons. Team taught units and used our teaching reviews to monitor impact. These strategies are the day-to-day 'living of our core intent' and we believe have been tried and honed to meet the needs of our learners as they gather the knowledge through our curriculum.
Our leaders spend much of their time monitoring these systems to ensure they are as consistent as possible across each year group and flow into the subsequent year group - creating familiarity and comfort around expectations for our children as they move from class to class. Gaining consistency that meets need in our teaching and learning has been the core reason for our Classroom Craft. The systems are exciting to watch and we are continually searching for the next practice that can continue to provide that positive impact on our children's learning.
These are our holistic approach and beliefs tied closely to our overall vision with more subject specific padagogy to be found within the specific subject documentation and their website pages.
The best summary of Classroom Craft/How We Learn can be found in the TEACHING & LEARNING APPROACH/POLICY which can be downloaded at the base of the page.
